Default My Suggestion for Rubies/Saphires

Alright. So we have these 2 materials that have been here for over a solid year now, and nothing has been done with them. My suggestion is that they be used as sort of stat boosters, or extra mods.

First of all, these bonuses cannot be simply achieved by merely owning a ruby or saphire. Right now, we have The Deep and Urgoz's Warren, two high level dungeon-like areas with one "uber" boss at the end. After five-ish hours of high caffiene intake and much swearing, you kill the boss and three "phat-loot" weapons drop. Yay. Three weapons with nice looking skins and green text. Wasn't it all worth it? No. So, along with these weapons, a Ruby Essence and a Saphire Essence are dropped. (Also, any player who recieves a weapon will NOT recieve an essence) These essences come with a "Unidentified" sign, and like usual, must be identified to see the effect.

After you recieve an essence, you combine it with a ruby or saphire and create an Enchanted Ruby or Enchanted Saphire. These objects are then applied to a piece of armor or a weapon, and you get your bonus. These bonuses differ by which jewel is used.

Enchanted Rubies are combined with weapons, and give an additional 3/4 max mod. So a Sundering Enchanted Ruby will give your weapon a 15% Sundering mod. Also, if your weapon already has a sundering mod, or your weapon type cannot use the mod, the ruby cannot be combined.

Enchanted Saphires are combined with armor, and give an additional point to one of your character's attributes. The Enchanted Saphire cannot be combined if the associated attribute is already at 16, or you do not possess the required attribute.

Now, at first these may seem a little too overpowered, but as Anet makes elite missions more easily accessed, more essences will flow into the economy. As for its use on pvp characters, they can be unlocked once you combine the essence with the jewel. You do not need to have identified the essence to unlock it. To purchase it from the Priest of Balthazaar, you must pay 10k faction for the jewel, and 10k faction for the essence.

that is so diablo style, why not only decorate weapons and stuff with them

An editor that you view your chosen item in 3D, you rotate the item, then depending on how many rubies, sapphire you got, you can put them on where ever you want, as long as they aren't put on each other. Also, you glow, burn or other stuff if they are on weapons.

On melee weapons they would be put inside the weapon so that they don't ruin the model with bumps

Eh, sounds Diabloish to me. It seems to me that we will have some use for the Rubies and Sapphires in Ch. 3. Having a place set in an African theme where the gems are naturally mined (yes, I know that they are generally mined in Southern Asia and that Africa is diamonds) would seem a better place to have them put to use.

omg... haven't played diablo in ages. Though, I would rather the rubies and sapphires have something done to it that is much more exciting than that.

I'm not into making it easier for people who like factions more than prophecies to be able to get uber godly items that proph people cant get.
